Another in the series of Kokkos tutorials and hackathons was held at Sandia on December 5-7, 2017. This event was organized focused on exascale application development teams in Advanced Scientific Computing Integrated Codes and Advanced Technology Development and Mitigation. Forty-two students attended the full-day tutorial which introduced Kokkos’ basic and some advanced capabilities. Five application teams from Sandia’s Radiation & Electrical Science, Computing Research, and Engineering Sciences Centers participated in two hackathon days where an application and Kokkos developer “super team” created a Kokkos-version of their mini-application, integrating newly released advanced Kokkos capabilities to develop new parallel capabilities within their own applications, and furthering their ongoing transition to Kokkos.
Next month, an event in Santa Fe, New Mexico will focus on Performance Portability with Kokkos, giving attendees access to Kokkos experts to support their own application development. If interested, register soon as space is limited.
